Susan's Story

If you look up the word “individuality” in the dictionary, it has my friend Susan Harrod listed as an example. Never in my life have I known a more outrageous, free, wildly creative individual. It is one of the joys of my life to have met her and call her a friend.

Susan has had a rough life in many ways; she had a long fight with alcoholism until she discovered AA twelve years ago. But her attitude is always boisterously positive and hysterically funny. She takes her problems and turns them into comedy sketches, into dramatic monologues, into songs and dances and memorable parties and celebrations.

When Susan's mother died after years of tragic alcoholism, Susan took her mother's ashes up in an airplane and released them over a forest. She was so moved by the experience that she wrote a one woman show called "Over a Caesar Salad" that was produced several times in Hollywood. The show received glowing reviews, and—although it was a riotous comedy—there was never a dry eye in the audience.

She has learned the art of transforming grief, intense pain and loss, into beauty and joy—using her life experiences to lift an audience as she heals herself.
